Our Mission
The San Joaquin Valley Bookfest celebrates the enduring power of stories to connect and inspire. Through author readings and opportunities to engage with acclaimed writers, the Bookfest invites readers of every age to experience the joy of storytelling and the exchange of ideas in new ways. Inspired by the legacy of William Saroyan and the rich literary tradition of California’s Central Valley, the Bookfest brings readers and writers together to celebrate stories that matter.
The William Saroyan Society of Fresno
The William Saroyan Society of Fresno preserves and celebrates the legacy of Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Saroyan by promoting literature, education, cultural heritage, and the written word. Through public programs, literary events, and youth education, the Society encourages creativity, critical thinking, and an appreciation of the diverse voices that define California Central Valley.
